A Celebration

Many things have happened since I last posted here. I've done my A2 exams, been to two eighteenth birthday parties, and on Tuesday I went to the sixth form prom, which was absolutely brilliant! Months before the event, I began looking at dresses on the Debenhams website. Most of my favourites were in the Yumi collection, which was unfortunately absent from the local Debenhams store. However, I remained persistant, and using the instore wifi, I discovered that a Yumi store existed a short bus ride away, so we headed over, only to find that the shop had closed down. Feeling defeated, we trudged home, and decided to return on Sunday. Thankfully, House of Fraser sells Yumi clothing, so I was able to try on a few of the dresses I'd seen online, and I eventually settled on this one:
My dress!
I accessorized the dress with pink nails, my shoes from the year 11 prom and Em's silver bracelet!

Daisy's dad kindly offered to give Chris, Jade, Daisy and I a lift to the venue, a lovely hotel in the city centre. We inadvertently arrived about an hour before the teachers, but the time passed quickly while I marvelled at the hotel's splendour. Eventually, all but three guests arrived, so we made our way into the room, where the teachers gave us each a delightful party bag. The food arrived promptly, and I wolfed down the starter, tomato and basil soup, but had little room for the creamy tortellini main course, and couldn't even finish the sweet cheesecake dessert. After the meal it was photo time; I had 17 taken with Mrs Royall, some of which were hilarious. Soon after, people began to depart. We were among the last to leave, and while waiting for the others, I was very tempted to jump in the luggage cart à la Sebalter in the Hunter of Stars music video!
Temptation!

The walk back to the car was majestic, and the evening was one I will never forget!

First AS exam: done!

I took my first biology exam towards the A-level qualification earlier and I thought it was quite a good paper; I felt very comfortable with the first few questions as well as the two 5-markers. In the end I think my revision was sufficient, and I really hope that will show in my results. I should probably check when the results come out - I think it was March 8th for the German GCSE exams I took in January last year, so I only have about two months to wait! Hopefully I won't have to retake!

Sixth Form so far

It's been nearly a month since I joined sixth form, and I'm actually really enjoying it! Recently we've been completing September Assessments to gauge whether we should stay on our courses or not, and so far I know I've passed psychology and German, I hope I've done all right in biology, and I still have the chemistry test to do. Also, I've already taken opportunities to enrich my studies, including applying for a university programme to support my A-level studies, and expressing interest in the World Challenge 2014.

I am a sixth former

I've only had 10 lessons, but already I'm getting used being a sixth form student. We have much more freedom than students lower down the school, from having free lessons and no mandatory register in the mornings, to having to provide our own paper and buy our own folders. Also, we're no longer required to clothe ourselves in burgundy sweatshirts, white polo shirts and black trousers; there's something really refreshing about being able to choose what I wear each day, but it also meant I needed more clothes! Here are a few of the items I've recently added to my wardrobe:
Reversible jeans, from George at Asda

The other side, these are great because one garment provides two looks!

Dogtooth cardigan from New Look
Rich purple acid wash jeans from New Look
These are great, and also available in red, darker purple and blue
And some black ankle boots, also New Look, to tide over to the winter

Starting Sixth Form

This time next week I will have completed my first day of lessons as a sixth form student. Today, I had my final preliminary interview, during which I confirmed my GCSE grades and my subject choices for the next two years. Mrs Bird, my interviewer, was very surprised to hear that I managed to achieve an A* in English Language, especially after the marking scandal, and I was relieved to find that my A-level subjects (psychology, chemistry, biology and German) still fit into the timetable matrix. Also, us students were permitted to choose our tutor groups, and I managed to swindle a place in 12.1 with three of my best friends, plus the same tutor as I had during my mandatory schooling!

A quick catch up!

Hey! Since I had to log into blogger again, I felt it was about time for another blog post. It's lucky I still remember my password! Anyway, here's a few notable events that have occurred since 19th November:

  • At Chris's film night (on the 19th) we watched the film "Dead Silence", which I was really happy about because it stars Donnie Wahlberg and was created by the same people who came up with the Saw franchise. The film didn't disappoint, and I purchased the DVD for £3 yesterday, without being asked for ID!
  • My first ever internet purchase, "Meet Joe Mac" by Joey McIntyre arrived on Jonathan Knight's birthday (29th November), which is also the 333rd day of the year!
  • I also had my sixth form interview on that day; I will be studying chemistry, biology, German and psychology (provisionally) next year, and get to research intense celebrity fandom and stalking. Sounds interesting...
  • On December 2nd I broke my school bag, a trusty sidekick of a year and a quarter. By Monday evening I had another bag: the same design but in a different colour!
  • The 5th to 9th December was mock week, meaning I didn't tweet much and revised a bit. Most of the exams went okay, but I'm glad it's over!
  • Yesterday, in addition to the DVD, I bought 7 CDs by The Feeling, Backstreet Boys, Muse, Mika and Take That.
  • It's a week and a day until my birthday! I'm going to see "New Year's Eve" with friends to celebrate.
See ya soon!
